Nandini Sperm Station
To improve the milk yield potential of the cattle, Nandini Sperm Station is successfully engaged in production and supply of superior quality disease free frozen semen from genetically superior quality bulls to all the Dairy Co-operative Societies through the Milk Unions over the past 34 years in the project area of Karnataka Milk Federation. It produces and supplies around 3.70 million doses of semen straws in a year.
It has the distinction of ”A” grade Semen station under Dairy Cooperatives in the country.
NDDB has identified NSS for production of High Genetic Merit Holstein Friesian bull calves in future through Field Progeny Testing Programme and approved an outlay of Rs 2055 lakhs as grant spanned over a period of 6 years from 2012-13 under NDP-I.
The Semen Station is strengthened under NDP I to produce 4-5 million disease free frozen semen doses by the end of 2017-18 with a Project financial outlay Rs 678.20 lakhs.
