The garden city turned into the silicon capital of India has made rapid strides in dairy activity.
From 50,000 Litres a day 4 decades back under UNICEF, today it is a 6 Lakh Litres/ Day, State-of- the- art plant expandable to 10 Lakh Litres/ Day.
It covers 12 talukas with more than 1936 Societies functioning.
Hoskote on the out skirts of the city boasts of a 1.5 LLPD chilling plant, capacity comparable to many dairies in the State.
It has chilling centers at Anekal-0.60 TLPD, Byrapatna-0.60 TLPD, D.B.Pura-0.60 TLPD, Vijayapura-1.00 TLPD, Solur-0.60 TLPD, Hosakote-1.50 TLPD, Kanakapura-0.60 TLPD with total capacity of 550 TLPD. There are 146 Bulk Milk Coolers and 656 Automatic Milk Collection and Community milking parlour-23 units in the union
The union procures on an AVG of 11.53 lakh kgs/day of milk and sells 7.98 lakh litres/day
Speciality of the Union: Fully computerized Dairy with no human handling of milk with the distinction of having highest procurement and highest sale of milk by any dairy in Karnataka.
